The
simplest solutions are often the most satisfying. I loved
the clean lines of this bowl, actually an isolated piece
from a fountain. The irridescence of the iridium tiles
were used to their best advantage on the curved edges.
They catch the light no matter where the sun is.
The
use of wave patterns to frame emblematas in centuries
old floors inspired the use of a stark black/white wave
pattern. The pieces for the crest of the waves were cut
to 1/16 the size of the original 3/4" tiles. The
small size of the border was essential to allow the field
of circular white tiles to be a statement on their own.
This area was filled in with 2 varieties of white and
one blue.
