Object: Gulf Frittilary Bench, Commission

Materials: Vitreous Glass Tesserae with Black Grout on a Concrete Bench

Dimensions: 3 Foot (37"x14")

Method: Indirect (glued to paper and then transfered to the bench after pregrouting)

The client wanted a butterfly theme for this bench. I drew up a variety of compositions using the wing shape of the Zebra Longwing as well as the Gulf Frittilary. These butterflies are native to Florida but very different in color and shape. Both the color as well as the classic butterfly shape of the Frittilary got the thumbs up.
